Construction company director Mark Robertson is taking on the Lincoln and Grimsby franchise of Drain Doctor Plumbing Ltd, the UK’s largest combined plumbing and drainage business.
Along with co-directors Mark Perkins and Alex Coupland, Mark runs construction contracting company Taylor Pearson, based in Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire.
As part of the business they carry out maintenance and survey work for a number of large commercial organisations, hospitals and local authorities.
Plumbing and drainage repairs and CCTV inspections of drains have become an increasingly large part of this work, particularly on ‘brownfield’ sites for health authorities seeking to build doctors’ surgeries.
Mark said: “We looked at the subcontracted drainage element of our business and decided it made sense to bring the work in house so that we could also service domestic customers and create a solid base on which to build another business.
“This got us looking for a suitable business which prompted me to contact Drain Doctor. The company is national with a strong network and we felt that there is a good fit between the two companies.”
After researching various plumbing/drainage franchise opportunities Mark and his partners decided on Drain Doctor because it has a proven system that offers a largely recession-proof opportunity. He said: “We can still be independent operators running our own business but with all the back-up that comes with being part of a large national organisation. You just don’t get the same support with other franchises that you do with a Drain Doctor franchise.”
Mark continued: “We intend to expand and promote the business to commercial and domestic customers and grow to sufficient size to serve the whole area, with a staff of qualified plumbers and drainage technicians on call in vans fully equipped to deal with most plumbing and drainage problems.
“We aim to give businesses and householders across our franchise area the same ‘dazzling’ level of service which Drain Doctor provides across the rest of the country.
“Our customers get fixed-price, no obligation quotes, a complete guarantee on all work, and a full 24 hour, seven days per week service with no call out charges – so people pay the same price for work at any time of day or night. What’s more, we turn up at the agreed time!”
Launched in the UK in 1993, Drain Doctor Plumbing quickly grew to become the country’s largest combined emergency plumbing and drain repair service. It now provides a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year service across the country with each franchise run as an independent business.
