A new online resource has been launched to provide small businesses with all of the support and advice they need in one place. The new Business is GREAT Britain website, at greatbusiness.gov.uk, hosts comprehensive information about the Government support and advice available to small firms, on areas including access to finance and selling overseas.
The site is aimed at businesses at all stages in their growth journey, from those who are just starting out to firms who want to boost their bottom line through rapid growth. It includes inspirational stories from successful entrepreneurs, practical advice and tips and links to initiatives by the Government and its partners that are specially designed to meet a range of business needs.
Skills and Enterprise Minister Matthew Hancock said: “One million people have visited our GREAT Business website since it was launched. Now the redesigned site is easier to use and businesses can quickly find the help that is relevant to them under three themes; export, advice and finance. We are committed to making the Government’s business support system as easy to navigate as possible so that small businesses have the right environment to thrive.”
Tangle Teezer is one small firm that has already benefited from the Business is GREAT Britain resource site. Its founder, Shaun Pulfrey, said: “When we started out, it was really difficult to find out about the support that was available to us. It’s great that we, and other small businesses, can now get everything we need in one place.”
Resources that are new to the site include tools and information on how to access the different finance options that are available, and advice on how to hire new staff, including apprentices.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills is informing small firms about the site through an advertising campaign that features Shaun Pulfrey and Helen Thomas, the Managing Director of cider producers H Weston & Sons.
